Simple WebP Screenshot – Support
Welcome to the official support page for Simple WebP Screenshot, a lightweight Chrome extension developed by Ayman Abdullah for capturing, editing, copying, and downloading screenshots as WebP images.
What is Simple WebP Screenshot?
Simple WebP Screenshot lets you capture screenshots directly from Google Chrome without uploading your images to an external service.
You can capture the visible part of a page, an entire long page, or manually select a specific area. After capturing the screenshot, you can edit it using the built-in editor before copying or downloading the final image.
Main Features
- Capture the visible area of a web page.
- Capture full pages, including long pages.
- Select and capture a specific area.
- Crop screenshots before saving.
- Add annotations and shapes.
- Blur sensitive or unwanted information.
- Copy the finished screenshot to the clipboard.
- Download screenshots as WebP files.
- Adjust WebP image quality.
- Process screenshots locally inside the browser.
How to Take a Screenshot
- Open the web page you want to capture.
- Click the Simple WebP Screenshot icon in the Chrome toolbar.
- Choose the capture mode you need.
Visible Area
Choose Visible Area to capture only the portion of the web page currently visible in the browser window.

Choose Full Page to capture the entire web page, including content that requires scrolling.
The extension automatically processes the page and combines the captured sections into a single screenshot.
Select Area
Choose Select Area when you only need a particular part of the page.
Drag over the area you want to capture and release the mouse button when the selection is complete.
Using the Screenshot Editor
After a screenshot is captured, it opens in the built-in editor.
You can use the available tools to:
- Crop the screenshot.
- Draw freehand annotations.
- Add arrows.
- Add text.
- Add rectangles or shapes.
- Blur sensitive information.
- Undo recent changes.
- Reset the image when necessary.
WebP Quality
Simple WebP Screenshot lets you control the quality of downloaded WebP images.
A higher quality setting usually produces a clearer image with a larger file size, while a lower setting can reduce the final file size.
The default quality is designed to provide a practical balance between image quality and file size.
Copying a Screenshot
Use the Copy option in the editor to place the screenshot directly on the clipboard.
You can then paste it into compatible applications, editors, messages, or other tools.
Downloading a Screenshot
Use the Download option to save the finished screenshot as a WebP image on your device.
The file is saved using Chrome's normal download functionality.
Are Screenshots Uploaded to a Server?
No.
Simple WebP Screenshot processes screenshots locally inside your browser.
The extension does not:
- Upload screenshots to M7tawa servers.
- Send screenshots to the developer.
- Use external screenshot-processing services.
- Use advertising trackers.
- Use analytics or telemetry.
- Sell user data.
Common Issues and Solutions
Full Page capture does not include the entire page
Some websites use unusual scrolling systems, fixed containers, dynamically loaded content, or other page structures that can affect full-page screenshot tools.
Try the following:
- Allow the page to finish loading completely.
- Scroll through the page once before taking the screenshot if content loads dynamically.
- Close pop-ups or overlays covering the page.
- Try reloading the page before capturing again.
Select Area does not work as expected
Make sure you start the selection from inside the page content and drag across the area you want to capture.
Press Esc if you need to cancel the current selection and start again.
The screenshot is blank or incomplete
Chrome restricts extensions from capturing some special pages.
This can include:
- Chrome internal pages such as chrome:// pages.
- The Chrome Web Store itself in some situations.
- Protected browser content.
- Pages with unusual rendering or security restrictions.
Try the extension on a normal public website to determine whether the issue is specific to the original page.
Copy to clipboard does not work
Make sure Chrome has permission to access your clipboard and that the application where you are pasting supports image clipboard content.
You can always use the Download option as an alternative.
The WebP file does not open
Modern versions of Chrome support WebP directly.
You can drag the downloaded file into a Chrome window to verify that the image itself is valid.
Some older image applications may not support WebP files.
The downloaded file is larger than expected
Try reducing the WebP quality setting before downloading the screenshot.
File size can also depend on image dimensions, page complexity, colors, gradients, and the amount of detail in the screenshot.
Privacy
Simple WebP Screenshot is designed to operate locally and does not require users to create an account.
The extension does not collect personal data for advertising or analytics.
A complete privacy policy is available on the official Simple WebP Screenshot privacy page.
